Condenser Cleaning

There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments.
If the environment is particularly greasy or dusty, or there is significant pet traffic in the home, the condenser should be cleaned every 2 to 3 months to ensure maximum efficiency.

If you need to clean the condenser:
1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.
2. Remove the base grille.
3. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area of the condenser.
4. Replace the base grille when finished.
5. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.

Condensation water collects on the surface immediately below the bottom crisper drawer and freezes into a sheet of ice.
The condensation water is not going into the evaporation tray located inside the bottom of the refrigerator.
Is there a duckbill valve involved in the circuit that may prevent the condensed water from passing through to the evaporation tray that needs to be cleaned or replaced?
If so, how do I get to the valve through the inside of the refrigerator?

I have a Whirlpool 27 cubic foot Gold series, french door fridge, it is not working. Behind the pantry drawer is a grate that is totally frozen over. Ice about 3 inches thick. We defrosted the ice, thinking that perhaps the door had been left open, or some other minor problem. The ice immediately started to form again. The ice maker has not worked for a couple of months. Could there be a relation between the two. I have left a message with a service company but have not heard back form them. I purchased this unit in June of 2015 and paid $2500.00. I feel that it should last longer than five years. Any help would be appreciated.

Panel light on my whirlpool gold French door bottom freezer goes on and off lights in the refrigerator works but refrigerator does not work. Sometimes the panel light comes on then refrigerator works for a while then goes off again another time the panel light doesn’t work none at all.

  25. First, break up the ice in the bottom of the freezer as I did once a month for 2 years! Unplug fridge and remove the bottom panel in rear of fridge. You will see a black trough that carries water from a nipple to the condensation tray. That nipple will be stopped-up, remove it and clean it thoroughly or you can buy a retrofit pipe ($9) to replace the nipple and trough.

  28. Every time our electricity goes off , when it comes back on the fridge has to be unplugged then plugged back in so the compressor will come on. It’s done this twice and because we haven’t had it long,we didn’t catch it for almost 2 days. (The light works while compressor off) Is this a feature of the appliance or is there something wrong with it?

  41. We have model# WRF736SDAM14, French Door Whirlpool! It’s just over a year old. For some time now, there is a pretty large amount of moisture buildup on the seal on the freezer door seal between the refrigerator doors & freezer doors. Needs to be dried up a couple times a day.

  42. We have a Whirlpool Gold GI6FDRXXY00.
All doors are shut but the “open door” icon is lit up and alarm sounds every few min.
There is nothing in fridge or freezer so nothing blocking it from being closed.
As well the interior light is no longer turning on could they be related?
    What could be the problem?
We can’t use the ice maker or water function.
