How this calculator works

Energy needed is your model's battery capacity multiplied by the percentage you're adding. Charging time divides that by an effective charging rate for your chosen source — Superchargers taper well below their peak rate as the battery fills, so this uses a realistic session average rather than the peak number you see advertised. Range added comes from your model's rated efficiency (kWh per mile).

Gas comparison assumes a 32 mpg average gas car and a $3.50/gallon national average price, so you can see the real cost difference for the exact miles this charge will give you.

Yes, usually. Supercharger rates run roughly $0.28–$0.44 per kWh depending on location and time of day, while home electricity averages around $0.16 per kWh nationally — often 2–3x cheaper.
