I have a GREE mini-split, purchased through Home Depot 6/10/20, installed Aug. 2020, failed 6/4/21, contacted support about 6/12/21 – only warranty after one year is parts. One repair person looked at it and said that the indoor unit not communicating with the oudtoor unit is a common issue. First error code was E4, then E6. After about 2 months, I received parts, sent to the repair person. Once those were installed, it ran for somewhere between an hour and a few hours, then produced E4. Turned power off and on, and it ran again for a short time, then displayed E6. E4 seems to be due to a faulty thermistor. Cost has doubled since purchase, and I would rather do this repair myself, but I don’t think I can buy parts. If, as the repair person said, this issue is likely to recur, it is not worth the cost of repair. (which defeats the purpose of reducing energy consumption due to mfg. waste) Do you have any options or suggestions? With some experience in computer hardware, can I remove and replace the board with the thermistor, and is there a source to purchase one? Or should I take this to a landfill??
