The red reset button is located on the bottom of your garbage disposal. Use a mirror if needed to see the red reset button.
You can simply feel on the bottom of the disposal for the red button. If it has reset or popped, it will be sticking out.

How To Reset A Garbage Disposal
If your garbage disposal won’t work, you might need to reset it using the RED overload protector button on the bottom of the disposer.
If your disposal is blocked with food debris, used for a long time, or it becomes too hot, it will automatically shut off as a safety precaution and must be reset.
If the overload protection has tripped, the red button will have come out.
Garbage disposal “reset” button reset instructions, follow these steps:
- Turn off the disposal switch or unplug it from power.
- To restart the garbage disposal, push the red reset button. If it pops back out, wait 10 minutes and press the reset button once more. (If the red button pops back out after pressing it, this means the disposer is too hot and needs time to cool down)
- Run the water faucet above the disposer before turning the garbage disposal ON.
- Turn the disposal’s switch to the ON position, or plug the disposer back into power and turn it ON and the disposal should start running smoothly again.
