How to Install Kodi on Roku – A Step by Step Guide

Install Kodi (XBMC) on Roku Stick, Roku Box, or Roku TV. If you’re a fan of movies, television or music, then one of the best technologies to come about in the past few years is streaming devices. Streaming devices, such as the Amazon Firestick , the Google Chromecast, or the Roku, allow users to play their favorite movies, television shows and songs through their TV, without having to purchase things like DVDs, cable boxes or CDs. You can stream all of your favorite content over the Internet, and have it appear on your television with ease.

However, with so many media options out there, it’s hard to keep them all straight. Many people choose to use a media organizer along with their streaming device, and one of the best of Kodi. Kodi is a piece of free software that makes it easier to manage your media, and to stream television and movies from the Internet. Naturally, if you’re the owner of a streaming device, such as a Roku, you’d want to be able to use Kodi to make it better. There’s just one problem – you can’t install Kodi directly on a Roku like you can with some other devices.

NEW RULE: Streaming any paid media on Kodi is illegal. Avoid DMCA issues by using UNLOCATOR VPN.

As of this writing, the programming language used to write Kodi is not jailbreak compatible with the Roku operating system. However, there is a workaround that will allow you to use Kodi on your Roku devices – you just need to incorporate a third device. Here’s how it works:

EASY FAST WAY TO WATCH KODI ON ROKU:

-Turn ON Roku
-Using the Roku remote, press home button
-Go to Settings
-Go to System Update to be sure you have the latest Roku software
-Then go to Settings
-Go to Screen Mirroring
-Choose Enable Screen Mirroring and click OK

NOTE: Screen mirroring may be called Smart View, All Share Cast, Screen Casting, Cast, Quick Connect, Display Mirroring, Wireless Display, or Smart View.

DETAILED WAY TO WATCH KODI ON ROKU:

Step 1: Get Kodi
The first thing you need to do is download Kodi. Kodi 17.3 is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Android devices, giving you a variety of options. Pick a device that you want to host your media on, and one which is accessible enough that you can use while watching your television. You can also choose to install it on two different devices, with one storing your local media and using the other for playback and control. Exodus is available in KODI.

Step 2: Enable Screen Mirroring
Next, head on over to your Roku device. From the settings, ensure that you have the latest software update installed before you proceed. After you’ve done that, go to Settings -> Screen Mirroring. From here, enable Screen Mirroring.

Step 3: Sending Your Screen
Finally, go to the device on which you want to control your Kodi playback. If you’re on an Android device, go to the settings and select the Cast option, then select your Roku. It may go under a different name, such as Smart View or Display Mirroring, but it does the same thing. This will put your Android device’s screen on your television. From here all you need to do is open up the Kodi app, and begin playing your media.

The same concept applies for other devices besides Roku…

FOR WINDOWS:
If you are using Windows, you’ll need to have the latest OS (8.1) for this to work. Go to your Settings, then find Devices. From here, click Add Device. Your Windows device will search and hopefully locate your Roku, which it will then connect to. If it worked, you should now see your Windows screen on your Roku. Again, now you just need to play your media on the Windows device, and it will appear on the Roku.

FOR APPLE:
If using Apple devices, you’ll need to download the Roku app. Once you have it, the app will search for Roku devices on the same Network. Connect to the one you want, and it will instantly start sharing your iPhone screen to the television. You should then be able to switch over to your Kodi app, and begin playing your media.

Using Kodi on Roku
