Clear The F8 E1 Error Code – Whirlpool Top Load Washer
Whirlpool Washer F8 E1 Error = WATER SUPPLY ISSUE
Use the 3 steps below to troubleshoot why the washer shows the F8 E1 error code…
1. Water Supply Valves – Not Fully OPEN
Hot and cold water supplies must be turned ON.
F8 E1 error code on washing machine indicates water valves may not be turned on.
Washing machine water sensor cannot detect that both water supply valves are open.
TO CLEAR ERROR CODE: FULLY OPEN THE WATER SUPPLY VALVES BEHIND WASHER
TURN ON WATER SUPPLY VALVES TO CLEAR F8 E1 ERROR

2. Water Inlet Hoses – Not Connected
BOTH water inlet hoses need to be connected.
Washer has sensors that detect the water supply, this requires both hoses to be connected to the water valve.
HOT and COLD water inlet hoses must be securely connected.
Inspect the water inlet hoses for kinks as this can cause restricted water flow.
TO CLEAR ERROR CODE: CONNECT CLEAN AND KINK FREE HOT AND COLD WATER SUPPLY HOSES
CONNECT BOTH WATER SUPPLY HOSES TO CLEAR F8 E1 ERROR

3. Drain Hose – Inserted Too Far Into Standpipe
Drain hose is inserted into the standpipe TOO FAR DOWN.
Washer drain hose cannot be extended more than 4.5″ (114 mm or 113 mm) into standpipe.
U-shaped drain hose form will help to obtain the correct depth. (Attach to standpipe or drainpipe)
Drain hose issues can cause the washer to siphon (fills and drains at the same time) and washer does not fill to the proper level.
TO CLEAR ERROR CODE: BE SURE DRAIN PIPE IS INSERTED AT THE CORRECT DEPTH – NO SIPHONING
ADJUST DRAIN HOSE TO CLEAR F8 E1 ERROR CODE
Drain hose cannot be extended more than 4.5″ (114 mm) into standpipe
MAY CAUSE SIPHONING
NOTE: Using anti-flood devices on a washing machine may reduce the water pressure and amount of water entering the appliance.

Replace the hot/cold inlet valve assembly as one of the solenoids might be not functioning properly. That’s what fixed mine.
I have a top load washer that keeps giving the error F8E1, I have checked the inlets and verified water source and hoses are without kinks. I can see the water flow in at a slow trickle. Is there a filter or something internal that may be causing a blockage?
Andre Santerre,
Whirlpool Duet front load model WFW9050XW00 getting an F8E1 code:
If you have looked over the washer and find no other issues as you have explained, the water inlet valves are most likely the fault for WATER NO FILL issues.
The water inlet valve is an inexpensive part and can be replaced relatively easy.
NOTE: It could be another issue, so do some more common sense troubleshooting as you have been and follow the problem from outward to inward (most obvious to least expected) as you have been doing.

I have Whirlpool Duet front load model WFW9050XW00, SN# HL24544531 type 832-a,
Its not filling with water. Getting an F8E1 code. I checked the hoses, there is no kinks, and I got solid pressure right up to the connections on the back of the machine. I pulled the little screen traps out of the back of the inlet connections on the back of hot and cold connections, they are also free and clear. The drain hose is clear and not kinked, and is in the stand pipe properly. I had the machine unplugged from the wall about 10 min while checking the water connections and upon trying it again, the problem and code persists. When the machine turns on, it just tumbles the load inside back and forth but it never really fills with water. It does get a little bit of water from the hot, but it’s just weeping in slow and I can only tell because the hose starts to warm up slowly.
Just wondering you think i should go ahead and replace the hot and cold inlet valves inside the machine WPW10212596 & WPW10212598 or do you think I have a broken wire or something from the Motor control board WPW10384843? or even possibly a faulty control board?
I have a Whirlpool front loading washer Type 832-A, MOD WFW9050XW00 that is displaying the F8E1 error code. Water valves are on, hoses are in great shape, inlet filters to the machine are clean, and drain hose is properly installed. Still getting the error code, and I have done all the above checks and troubleshooting. No success. Where do I go from here. Also, it runs PERFECTLY on the hot cycle. Only error codes on the warm and cold cycles about 8 minutes in. Could it be the pump? Motherboard? Any advice would help.
