Error Codes & Troubleshooting Maytag Washers

Some of the most frequent Maytag washer fault codes have simple remedies that are easy to fix. We will show the error code and how to fix them below.

Error Code Int

INTERRUPT. “Int” means interrupt. When you pause or cancel the wash cycle while it’s in a wash cycle, this indicator will appear. The code may also be shown while your equipment is spinning and draining, which can take up to 30 minutes. If you still can’t find it after spinning and draining, press the pause/cancel button followed by the power button. If the washer code is still displayed, unplug the machine for a minute and reconnect the power cord.

Error Code Sud or Sd

TOO MANY SUDS. Sud or Sd is the abbreviation for “suds overfill.” This is an indication that your Maytag washing machine has too many suds. To get rid of the extra suds, the machine stops tumbling and increases its rinse time. It might repeat this procedure as needed on occasion. Here are a few possible causes of excessive suds development… The wrong detergent was used in your HE (high efficiency) washer or there could be a blockage in the drain line. The code will be removed if the extra suds are eliminated. This error code may be prevented by utilizing HE detergent in an HE unit. Don’t use “no splash bleach” with a thickening agent that shouldn’t be used in HE washers. If the Maytag washer doesn’t start again, check for clogs in the drain line and remove any obstructions that may have formed.

Error Code dET

DETERGENT. This error code can appear on some Maytag front load washing machines. Detergent dispenser failure is indicated by this error code. There might be a problem with the detergent dispenser or the detergent drawer is not fully shut. Make sure the detergent dispenser is set correctly, and that the drawer is closing tight. To clear the code, you must double-press the cancel or pause button, followed by a press of the power button.

Error Code uL

UNBALANCED LOAD. When a wash load is not balanced on a Maytag Bravos washing machine, this code will show up. The machine is programmed to operate automatically after correcting the load distribution, allowing you to let it finish. If you notice that the dial is flashing and the washer no longer operates, you must re-distribute the load. When the clothes have been redistributed, close the washer door and begin the wash cycle again.

Error Codes Ld/LF

LONG DRAIN/LONG FILL. The error code indicates a problem with water entering or exiting the washer. The LF error message indicates that the washing machine is taking an excessive amount of time to fill with water. The error code Ld indicates that it is taking too long to drain. To resolve both problems, the drain hose should be connected correctly. If the drain hose is too high, it should be lowered so that the end isn’t more than 96 inches above the ground. Inspect the drain hose for obstructions if your washing machine drains slowly.

Error Code HC

HOT AND COLD WATER HOSES. If the hot and cold inlet hoses are not connected correctly, you will see this warning on the Maytag Bravos washer screen. This message appears at the end of the wash cycle, warning you that the cold water hose is linked to the hot water inlet and the hot water hose is linked to the cold water inlet. To fix this error code check and move the hot and cold water hoses to their appropriate positions.

Error Codes F34 / rL

ITEM LEFT IN WASHER. This error code indicates that an item was left in the washing machine drum during a clean cycle. Always run the cleaning cycle when the washing machine is empty. Remove the items from the washer drum if any are still present, then restart the clean cycle.

Error Code F5 E2

LID LOCK OR DOOR LOCK. If the door of your washer is unlocked, it signals that the lock on your washer door isn’t working properly. The lid lock on your Maytag washer might be jammed and need to be identified and fixed. Make sure the door is fully closed and that no objects are obstructing it. To cancel the code, hit the pause or stop button.

Error Codes F7 E1 (oL)

WASHER MOTOR SENSOR/ OVERLOADED DRUM. When there’s a problem with the motor speed sensor, you’ll see this error code. It also indicates that the motor isn’t reaching the correct cycling speed for your chosen cycle. Furthermore, this fault might indicate a motor failure since the drum is overloaded. Examine the washer for signs of overload. Remove any items that are overloading it. Reset the Maytag washer by pressing both the pause/cancel and power buttons at once. If the code stays, you can try a full washer reset.

Error Codes F09 E01

DRAIN PUMP ISSUE. When there’s an issue with the drain pump system in a Maytag Maxima washer, this code will display. You should check that the drain hose is connected properly and attached to the drain pipe or tub. Examine the hose for obstructions, kinks, or pinched portions as well.

Maytag Washing Machine Questions and Answers

How can I get rid of the error code on my Maytag washer?

To reset the washing machine error code, you must twice press the pause/cancel button and then the power button one time. Remove the AC power cord to the washer and wait for a minute if the code does not disappear.

Why won’t my Maytag washer fill with water?

When the washer’s inlet valve is damaged, it might not fill with water. Check to be sure the water is turned on to your washing machine. Are the water hoses going to the washing machine bent or crimped? Be sure the water pressure is sufficient. If you see debris on the screens or on the water inlet valve at the back of the washer hose connection ports, it’s time to clean anything that may be blocking water flow. Replace the water inlet valve if the problem persists.

How do you manually unlock a Maytag front-loading washing machine?

The unit will enter a hold and drain procedure for 8 minutes, after which the door will unlock.

How do I reset my Maytag washing machine?

To reset your Maytag washer, press and hold the Start/Pause button on the control panel for 5 seconds. At this point, the indicator lights should all be off. If that does not reset or clear the washer, turn the Cycle Selector Knob counter-clockwise to erase any sequence. The final option to reset your washer is to unplug it from power for 10 minutes. This should reset your washer and you can begin using it as normal.

Maytag washer doesn’t start when I push the ON button?

The first step is to verify the machine’s timer. If the timing on the machine is faulty, it prevents the equipment from operating effectively. Verify that the user control and display board are correctly set. There may be a problem with the washing machine itself, or it may not be turned on. Check for power issues and a faulty washer door lock. Check the thermal cut-out switch. If your device is too hot, the thermal cut-out switch may be tripped.

The Maytag washer isn’t draining

You must first assess the load. Water filling/draining may be affected by overloading equipment. Make sure the clothes are equally distributed throughout the machine. Check to see whether the appliance is connected to the outlet. If the breaker has tripped, inspect and reset it. Replace the drain hose if necessary. Check for kinks and repair them if any are found. If required, unclog the line. To apply pressure to the lid switch, you must securely shut the washing machine’s lid. When your unit is open, this lid switch prevents it from working. If the lid is properly closed but does not drain, the switch may be faulty.
