What Is EO Error Code On Mini Split AC?

When an E0, eo, or e0 error code appears on a split unit, it indicates there is a problem with the EEPROM. This means that the main chip of the indoor or outdoor PCB cannot communicate with the EEPROM chip. Possible the wires are loose or disconnected? The acronym EPROM, or Electrically Programmable Read-Only Memory, refers to a small storage place that contains the code for a mini-split to function.

An EO error code on a mini-split AC is an indoor EEPROM Error. But remember, every air conditioner is different, and there may be variations in faults based on the brand and model. Always double-check your mini split error code with the equipment’s manual or wiring diagram.

Repair The E0 Mini Split Error Code

  • Unplug the unit and switch off the breakers or disconnect the outlet.
  • Wait 10 minutes before turning the power back on.
  • Test the AC unit to be sure the error has cleared.
  • If a fault occurs and the error code is returned, the indoor or outdoor PCB may need to be replaced.

Reset Mini Split AC Unit

Reset both units by unplugging them from the power source and waiting a few minutes before plugging them back in. This may correct or reset any errors. If the fault persists, double-check all connections for looseness or open slots. See the example below of how the EO error was fixed in another individuals situation.

Mini Split AC Wiring Issues

Wiring can become disconnected or have a bad connection. Unplug the AC units from power. Re-seating all of the connections on a PCB board might fix the problem. Look for wires that could be labeled wrong. In a few cases, the E0 error code was caused by a communication cable to the outdoor unit labeled wrong. Inspect the wiring diagram on the inside of the unit. On the outside unit, the white and black wires might need to be reversed. Use the black wire for power and stranded wires to the disconnect box. The load wires may also be switched. Check all connections carefully and with the power to the AC unit turned OFF. Use the diagram and the owner’s manual to assist with wiring. When wired correctly, the mini split ac unit runs perfectly and blows cold air.

If the E0 error code persists, there may be a bigger problem. If you’ve had trouble with your air conditioner, contact the AC customer care or the company who installed it. They will almost certainly have to come out and inspect it. While you wait for assistance, avoid using the air conditioner excessively since this may cause more damage.
