My Samsung side by side refrigerator started beeping. The beep is the same sound when we leave the doors open. However the refrigerator beeps 11 times when the doors are closed. The light in the freezer section is not working and the temperature on the control panel constantly changes. What causes the refrigerator to beep 11 times with the doors closed?
How To Fix A Samsung Refrigerator That Beeps
A Samsung Model RH25h5611SR Refrigerator that beeps 11 times means a door has been left open for too long.
The switch that senses the door shut has an issue and thinks the door is open therefore the beeping continues even with the refrigerator doors closed. If this is your issue, the part most likely at issue here is called the Reed Switch. Continue reading below to be sure you have all the reasons a Samsung fridge could beep before replacing any parts.
How to replace Samsung fridge door (Reed) switch
Quick fix for beeping refrigerator: Unplug the Samsung refrigerator from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes and plug the refrigerator back in. This MAY fix the beeping as doing a quick reset may help.
What issues can cause a Samsung refrigerator to beep?
1. Refrigerator or freezer door has been left open
2. Reed switch is faulty
3. Doors are not sealing properly
4. Doors are not properly aligned on frame
5. Water filter needs to be changed
6. Sudden temperature change
7. High temperature warning in freezer or fridge
8. Water filter is clogged
9. Ice maker issues
10. Water dispenser issues
11. Front refrigerator legs not adjusted properly
12. Certain fault/error codes
What can cause the refrigerator to beep 11 times?
The reed switch is what “senses” if the doors are open or closed. The reed switch activates when the magnet in the door gets in close proximity to the switch. The magnetic field closes the switch and tells the refrigerator the doors are closed. The reed switch is open when the door is open, and closed when the door is shut.

Where is the Reed Switch located?
There is a cap on top of the refrigerator that covers the hinge. This hinge connects the freezer door to the main body of the fridge. This is the area where the Reed Switch is located.
How to test the Reed Switch?
Use a strong magnet and slide it along the front part of the hinge cap on the side where the freezer door touches it when the door has been closed. If the light turns on the magnet in the door is the most likely issue.
If sliding the magnet does not get the light to turn on you should remove the hinge cap and check the connectors. Be sure the reed switch is connected to the front of the hinge cap. There are 2 wires that go to the reed switch. Check the wires to be sure they are secure and not damaged. If the connections look secure, the Reed Switch is most likely causing the issue with the fridge beeping 11 times. Remove and replace the Reed Switch.
Other issues that may cause the issue of beeping and lights not working (if bulbs are known to be in working order) are faulty wiring inside the refrigerator or the main PCB board is faulty.

I checked the magnet and reset the fridge and it keeps beeping when the doors are closed
Hi there, my Samsung refrigerator suddenly started to beep non stop. Have checked that doors are shut, it is not over flowing with food, does not gave built up frost and I even unplugged it for 5 mins but still it is beeping. HELP!
I must say, your expertise is top-notch, I got a unit for my garage , from a friend, but it beeped the whole time, it was the wire on the sensor, top right, it was pulled from its connector, a little glue did the trick.
